The Twirltastics Baton Club was formed in 2005 to provide a healthful alternative recreational activity for all
children ages 4 and older. Baton is useful in developing grace, poise, coordination, teamwork and physical fitness.
At their own pace, students will gain fluidity in learning basic terminology, baton-handling, body-technique, proper
posture, a variety of catches, rolls, balancing, and exchanges between two or more people.
Affliated Organizations
The United States Twirling Association (USTA) is a national, nonprofit youth sports organization dedicated to positive
youth development through the sport of baton twirling. Through baton twirling children can develop coordination,
listening skills, discipline, responsibility, and respect.
The International Juggler's Association (IJA) was created in 1947 to answer the need for an organization for jugglers
that would provide meetings at regular intervals in an atmosphere of mutual friendship. Members range from top
professionals to avid hobbyists and enthusiastic beginners.
The Oregon Baton Council was established to encourage, develop and generate an interest in baton twirling in the State
of Oregon; to support USTA and its policies; to coordinate twirling activities and encourage harmonious relationships
among all twirling teachers, judges, interested parents, and contestants; and to help develop within baton twirlers a
spirit of competitiveness combined with a sense of good sportsmanship.
